Ref.4172: ELEGANT GENTILHOMMIERE OF THE 15TH AND 18TH CENTURIES IN HAUT-ANJOU
This charming manor house, partially surrounded by a water moat, was built in the territory of Haut-Anjou, near a strategic axis linking Angers to Rennes and in a perimeter dotted with cities known as the “gates of Anjou to the Marches de Bretagne”. Situated at the crossroads of a quadrilateral formed by the cities of Angers, Nantes, Rennes and Laval, it enjoys a central position in the Great West and a beautiful peaceful environment 2 km from a village. Two major resource towns offering all shops and services are 10 and 15 minutes away respectively.
This residence was built on the site of an old castle whose origins date back to the 15th century and of which some elements still remain to this day such as these imposing pepperpot turrets which surround the property. Orderly in front of a central courtyard, the main house was built in sandstone and schist stone coated under slate. To the east, its main facade reveals seven bays of windows with freestone frames and a remarkable cornice with beautifully crafted modillions supporting a roof adorned with five polychrome dormer windows and chimneys. To the north and at right angles, outbuildings run along the courtyard. To the West, towards the park, the facade has two projecting pavilions framing the main building and a square tower topped with a remarkable octagonal lantern, bringing an undeniable touch of fantasy to the relatively classic architectural features of this building.
With a living area of approximately 465 m², it is arranged as follows:
On the ground floor: a vestibule gives access on either side to spacious living rooms, lounge, library office, dining room dining room, kitchen, pantry and laundry/bathroom.
There are oak parquet floors, terracotta tiles, cabochon paving and polychrome cement tiles, marble fireplaces, high wooden chair rails and paneling, and nicely decorated ceilings. Continuing from the vestibule, a gallery gives access to the upper floors via a charming wooden baluster staircase. On the 1st floor: a gallery serves four bedrooms, two of which have a bathroom and two of which have a shower room, and a large dressing room.
The floors are tiles and parquet, and you can see marble fireplaces and exposed beams. On the 2nd floor: a landing leads to three attic bedrooms, a bathroom to restore, and attics with significant development potential.
The property has several outbuildings near the castle distributed as follows:
The farmhouse at right angles including various garages, workshop, woodshed, storage rooms.
A little away from the main house, four old farm buildings used as a home, barn, stable and storage room, to be restored.
Beautiful English-style park of approximately 2 hectares, pleasantly designed and decorated with magnificent trees (ginkgo-bilobas, cedars, oaks, lime trees, pines, bald cypresses, redwoods, chestnut trees, acacias, ash, beech, sweetgum, tulip tree, maples, fruit trees, peach trees, apricot trees, kiwi trees, raspberry trees, etc.), some centuries old, and flower beds, a real delight for the senses.
