The Château de la Brillanne is located at the gates of Aix-en-Provence, on the gentle slopes of the Puyricard plateau, well exposed to the sun and sheltered from the Mistral, interspersed with small valleys which descend towards the Touloubre.
Originally, the Brillanne was a construction whose traces date back to the 15th century.
At the end of the 19th century, the property was added a floor and four square towers at each angle, which earned it the name of the castle, as well as a roof of slates.
Several successive reshuffles have gradually changed the original building, thus helping to give its current architectural style, while retaining the classic exterior and interior bastide elements.
Today, the property, built on a park of approximately 2.7 hectares, offers a large real estate complex of almost 1750 m2 of built, composed of the castle entirely restored in 2018, of three new contemporary villas, a longère to renovate, of a Fenière and many annexes, including horse boxes and a garage for a dozen vehicles.
On the garden side, the estate has retained all the codes of Provence, basins supplied by a natural source descending from La Trévares, with fountains and wells.
Wood east of the Maison de Maître has many other centenarians and rubs shoulders with a majestic alley of centenary plane trees, which reveals the imposing entrance with a wrought iron grid, which unambiguously indicated the power and richness of the masters of the place.
To perfect the outdoor space, a swimming pool, with impressive dimensions and the appearance of a Provençal basin comes to nestle on the south side, sheltered from all nuisances.
The Provençal author René Borricand, in his work Château et Bastides du Pays d'Aix, evokes the Domaine de la Brillanne as well:
“A typical, three -storey facade, generously pierced with five windows to enjoy the garden; A roof with four slopes decorated with sponge cakes, cornices of tiles whose number of rows indicates the quality of the owner (three are worth a sign of nobility, the owners of the brilliant wore the title of Marquis) and towers at each angles ”.
